Our six-year Medicine With a Gateway Year program serves as a Widening Participation pathway, creating opportunities for aspiring medical students from underrepresented communities. To qualify, applicants must satisfy our widening participation requirements. While we accept applications from students nationwide, priority consideration goes to local candidates during selection.
The initial Gateway Year takes place at the University of Hull campus, focusing on building essential scientific knowledge, improving academic skills, and introducing professional healthcare concepts within the NHS framework.

A levels: BBC-ABB. BBC including B in Biology and Chemistry and third A level in any subject (predictions of AAB or above are not accepted).
GCSEs: 5 GCSEs at level 9-4 or A*-C. 5 GCSEs at level 9-4 / grade A*-C or equivalent, including English Language and Maths.
International Baccalaureate: Our standard offer is 29 points in the International Baccalaureate with 14 in three Higher Level subjects, including 5 in both Biology and Chemistry.
IELTS score of 7.5 with a minimum of 7.0 in every component, obtained within the last two years.
TOEFL: Total score of 105 with minimum 24 in writing, 26 in speaking and 22 in both listening and reading, obtained in the last two years.
