Our Master of Arts in Music Technology (research-based) is designed for graduates with a research orientation and background in music technology or audio engineering. It caters to advanced creators exploring composition, production, and modern aesthetic methods in audio, as well as those developing tools for various musical applications, including support for composers, performers, and analysts. This program specifically emphasizes creating, evaluating, and implementing technological solutions to current challenges in musical practice and analysis. Application process
Under your supervisor's guidance, you'll complete structured components, culminating in one of these final submissions:
A 30,000 to 40,000-word dissertation on your chosen topic, supplemented by an extensive resource catalog (encompassing software, production materials, digital and audiovisual resources as applicable), or
A creative portfolio: three to five technology-mediated compositions for any musical format (instruments, voice, ensemble, audio media, or multimedia), approved by your supervisor and presented professionally. Each piece will include approximately 2,500 words of explanatory commentary addressing the work's context, creative process, and research relevance, along with a resource list.
