Learn from instructors with extensive professional backgrounds in music management and promotion. Our faculty brings diverse knowledge spanning music performance, music cognition, business strategy, leadership, and creative sector operations. No prior music qualifications are required. You'll become part of a welcoming environment in the School of Arts and Creative Technologies, with numerous ways to participate. Core curriculum components address essential music business and leadership principles, encompassing long-term strategy, live event coordination, budgeting, sponsorship acquisition, promotion, audience engagement, and partnership relations. Through critical evaluation, you'll explore contemporary industry challenges while enhancing professional competencies via practical exercises simulating actual workplace scenarios. These courses additionally provide opportunities to cultivate advanced research methodologies and consumer behavior insights valuable for marketing, market analysis, and research-oriented professions.
The Industry Collaboration unit involves working alongside professionals from various music and arts organizations.
Part-time program structure
Your first year includes 80 credits (two 20-credit courses each term), with 100 credits in year two (one 20-credit course per term plus the 60-credit Research Project).
Year one requires completion of Music Business Fundamentals and Research Methods for Music Management and Marketing. You may take the remaining required courses - Music Psychology in Marketing: Behavioral Impacts and Industry Collaboration - in either year. Completing these in year one means all second-year courses become electives.
Part-time learners can begin the Research Project early during year two across both terms. Choosing this option leaves 30 project credits for summer completion.
