From the very beginning, Fine Art students explore various creative techniques and approaches, incorporating critical studies, drawing, physical art creation, and digital/time-based media as core components of their education. During the initial year, you'll reassess your prior artistic background while immersing yourself in art production through personal exploration, workshop participation, and assigned projects. The second year deepens critical thinking to help shape your unique artistic voice. This culminates in the third year with preparing work for public display and learning essential curatorial techniques for presenting both your own and others' artwork. The program consistently emphasizes personal growth, encouraging you to investigate and express your creative vision and ambitions - ultimately building the confidence to showcase your work and concepts effectively, a crucial ability for post-graduation success.
The Illustration program encompasses all major illustration styles and formats, from children's literature and magazine artwork to graphic novels, documentary illustration, author-driven projects, and commercial advertising. With a strong drawing foundation established in the first year, the course fosters skill development across both traditional and digital mediums. Students are motivated to undertake cross-disciplinary projects, with their final year particularly focused on understanding and engaging with professional illustration environments. Instruction comes from faculty members who maintain active careers as working, published illustrators.
