Our Bachelor of Midwifery (Honours) program is built on the principle that every student embarks on a distinct path toward shaping the future of midwifery. This learner-focused curriculum aims to equip you with the skills and confidence to grow into a dedicated, competent midwife by nurturing your personal strengths. Centered around public health priorities, support for vulnerable populations, and addressing the multifaceted needs of expectant mothers, our program aligns with the NHS Long Term Plan. Graduates will be ready to join the NMC professional register and positively influence family and community health outcomes. **Why select this course?** This accelerated two-year pathway is tailored for qualified adult nurses, allowing you to transition your nursing expertise into midwifery practice while meeting the rigorous standards set by the University of Wolverhampton and the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Upon graduation, you’ll qualify for dual registration as both a nurse and midwife with the NMC. Our education model prioritizes student needs while emphasizing compassionate care for mothers, infants, families, and communities. The Bachelor of Midwifery curriculum strengthens your existing capabilities, fostering your development into a skilled and driven midwife. With a curriculum attuned to contemporary public health challenges, support for at-risk groups, and the evolving needs of childbearing individuals, this program ensures you’re equipped for safe, effective midwifery practice. You’ll gain the expertise to provide and oversee evidence-based care for families and newborns, collaborating within multidisciplinary teams in line with the NMC’s *Standards of Proficiency for Midwives* (2019). Key focus areas include: - Promoting natural physiological processes and wellness - Addressing complications with timely, skilled intervention - Supporting mothers and newborns requiring specialized care Adopting a student-centered philosophy, the program emphasizes active learning, leadership growth, research literacy, and critical reflection—preparing you for independent practice in maternity care.
