The curriculum incorporates all vital components to ensure graduates are ready to take on diverse responsibilities in contemporary automotive engineering.At the University of Wolverhampton, you'll access comprehensive facilities, dedicated workspaces, and practical learning experiences designed to maximize your skill development.What to expect during the programAll our engineering degrees share a unified first year, giving you exposure to multiple disciplines before selecting your specialization. Your studies will cover Mathematics alongside core principles of Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, and Production Engineering. You'll conduct laboratory experiments and apply manufacturing knowledge to construct and evaluate engineering designs.During your second year, you'll deepen your understanding of Automotive topics such as Control Systems, Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics, Structural Analysis, and Vibration Studies. You'll also develop design specifications, master 3D CAD software, and explore Engineering Management principles that define professional engineering practice.After your second year, we strongly recommend an industrial placement year to enhance your career opportunities and contribute toward your professional accreditation as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer.In your final year, you'll undertake an independent research project, expand your automotive specialization, and learn the process of transforming innovative concepts into viable commercial products.
We will consider applicants who have not achieved 48 UCAS points (equivalence) from prior level 3 qualifications, if you have a keen interest in this subject area or hold relevant experience. You will be required to attend and pass a compulsory Prepare For Foundation assessment day where you will take part in a variety of activities which will assess your suitability for the course.
