This program will provide you with the expertise and competencies needed for various graduate-level positions across statutory, voluntary, nonprofit, and private organizations. Why select this program? Social care encompasses broad support services for adults and children requiring assistance. Primary recipients include elderly individuals, particularly those with frailty or dementia, people with learning disabilities, and those facing mental health challenges. Additionally, numerous community groups benefit from social care, such as individuals struggling with substance abuse, victims of domestic violence, and marginalized populations experiencing inequality, including certain BAME women. Social care collaborates with health, housing, and public health services to address comprehensive needs. This specialized qualification in social care is tailored for those pursuing careers in this growing field. It explores pressing societal issues like poverty, domestic abuse, aging demographics, mental health concerns, substance addiction, youth delinquency, homelessness, and social marginalization. You'll examine the political frameworks shaping social care delivery and corresponding policy approaches. Instruction is led by faculty deeply committed to social care, with extensive experience serving diverse populations—including children's services, addiction support, elderly care, probation systems, mental health programs, learning disability services, adult care, domestic violence intervention, dementia care, and housing assistance.
