With traditional frameworks constantly changing, practitioners must be both flexible and innovative. We aim to develop autonomous, well-rounded problem-solvers equipped to excel in their careers. The Foundation year equips students for higher education. Completing this program grants entry to our Art or Digital Media BA (Hons) or BDes (Hons) degrees, spanning disciplines such as Fashion, Fine Art, Furniture Design, Glass and Ceramics, Graphic Design, Illustration, Interior Design, Paint and Printmaking, Photography, Product Design, and Sculpture and Environmental Art. The Foundation year starts with modules focused on transferable academic skills, followed by specialized studies in Arts and Digital Media in the second semester. Our illustration program nurtures creativity through diverse, innovative challenges. We support your artistic growth by exposing you to various material and digital techniques. In our specialized workshops and studios, you'll push boundaries, analyze ideas, and embrace fresh perspectives. We’ll inspire you to experiment, document, and innovate. You’ll explore original concepts, refine your visual style, and take creative risks to uncover new possibilities. A hands-on approach to drawing, printmaking, and collage—both traditional and digital—is central, and we’ll help you master multiple mediums. Collaboration with other disciplines within the School of Art is strongly encouraged. Each stage of the program balances introspection—projects that refine your personal style—with externally focused assignments mirroring industry demands. As part of our dedication to fostering creativity, this course will move from the George Wallis Building (MK) to cutting-edge facilities in Wolverhampton City Campus. These modern spaces will enrich learning, promote a collaborative studio culture, and enhance our hands-on teaching philosophy.
