Why select this program? Are you passionate about creating films and television shows? Do you aspire to be a director, producer, editor, or cinematographer? This program offers multiple benefits. Its primary objective is to equip you with the necessary abilities to craft and produce films and TV content across diverse and emerging platforms—from broadcast television to online streaming and theatrical releases. You'll also deepen your knowledge about the impact, accountability, and scope of media content, production methods, and distribution channels. The curriculum places special focus on social awareness and inclusivity, fostering global citizenship while preparing graduates for the evolving entrepreneurial and professional environments they'll enter—and potentially transform—after completing their studies. The Foundation year readies students for university-level education. Completing it successfully grants entry to any of our Art or Digital Media BA (Hons) or BDes (Hons) programs, covering fields like Computer Games Design, Animation, and Film & Television Production. The Foundation year starts with modules that build essential academic skills, followed by specialized coursework in the second semester, concentrating on different facets of Art and Digital Media. Mastering complex production challenges will sharpen your skill set, boosting career prospects across industries. Collaborative projects with peers, clients, actors, and other contributors will further refine your teamwork abilities while creating films and programs. What to expect in the program This immersive, practice-driven course immerses you in various film and TV production techniques, equipping you for careers in creative sectors or other fields where media creation matters. With technology and society constantly evolving, film and television production remains a dynamic, cutting-edge discipline. From day one, you'll tackle professional-grade project briefs—whether hypothetical, client-based, or modeled after real-world assignments. Your routine will involve researching concepts, developing pitches, filming, editing, screening, and distributing short films and TV content. Practical assignments, lectures, and research tasks foster adaptability while nurturing creative experimentation, leadership, and innovation in content creation and distribution. The program also celebrates individual and collective expression while cultivating awareness of global film and TV cultures. Beyond core coursework, students can take on live projects from local businesses, university partners, or community groups—valuable opportunities to build portfolios and enhance resumes. The program integrates career preparation, work experience, and public screenings, alongside strong ties to regional broadcasters and venues that may showcase your work on TV, radio, or local cinemas.
Key Entry Requirements: 48+ UCAS points. Either: A-levels: Grade profile of DD; Access to HE Diploma: (60 credits) of which a minimum of 45 must be at Level 3 (48 UCAS point equivalence, minimum 45 credits at pass); BTEC: Grade profile of PPP; T-Level: Pass grade with a core component profile less than C. Tariff: Other Level 3 qualifications are accepted for entry. A minimum of 48 UCAS Tariff points will be required. UAL L3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design or Creative Media Production & Technology - grade P. Other: Equivalent experience. We can consider applicants with other qualifications or relevant experience so if you do not have 48 UCAS points, please make sure you outline this experience within your personal statement. This can also be assessed through an alternative assessment route such as an academic essay.
