The BA (Hons) Education Studies equips you with essential knowledge and abilities for careers in various educational environments, whether you aspire to teach or pursue alternative professional paths. This program caters to both beginners in the field and seasoned professionals seeking advancement. For those aiming to enter teaching, we ensure an interview for our Primary Education PGCE program upon successful completion (subject to achieving at least a 2:2 and meeting entry criteria). Additionally, we provide seamless pathways to our Master's in Education program.Throughout your studies, you'll examine critical educational topics from multiple viewpoints. The curriculum addresses pressing concerns affecting modern education and childhood, such as environmental sustainability, racial equality movements, psychological wellbeing, digital platforms, pandemic-related educational shifts, and LGBTQ+ student realities. You'll investigate education's role in promoting fairness, analyze policy frameworks, compare national and international systems, and explore curriculum design. By integrating insights from various academic fields, you'll develop a nuanced understanding of pedagogical complexities while focusing on inclusive practices. Our approach values students' personal educational backgrounds and encourages critical analysis of educational theories. We foster intellectual independence and emphasize education's transformative power in society.Practical placements form a core component of the program, with opportunities available across diverse environments including traditional schools, alternative education providers, community organizations, correctional facilities, and youth services. We accommodate individual learning preferences through flexible assessment methods like oral presentations, academic papers, learning diaries, professional reports, peer guidance sessions, and project proposals. Our exam-free curriculum features tailored evaluations aligned with vocational aspirations. Typically delivered in intimate classroom settings rather than large lecture halls, our program prioritizes individualized attention to nurture student confidence and academic growth. This three-year full-time honors program also offers part-time study options with daytime attendance. Practitioners seeking evening classes can enroll in our Supporting Children in Primary Education foundation program at partner colleges, which provides a pathway to complete your honors degree through subsequent part-time study.
