The School's research initiatives are organized under its well-established research center and nine specialized groups, each focusing on pioneering areas within computer science and engineering disciplines.

The Centre for Parallel Computing boasts an impressive history of exploring innovative models and creating groundbreaking solutions for cloud computing applications, while driving real-world impact through partnerships with industry and public sector organizations. The Distributed and Intelligent Systems Research Group specializes in developing smart, extreme-scale platforms with emphasis on performance optimization, energy efficiency, and security, along with logic engineering for autonomous systems and advanced concurrent computing models.

State-of-the-art engineering challenges are addressed by the Applied Digital Signal Processing and VLSI Research Group and the Wireless Communications Research Group. These teams engage in industry-focused applied research, developing systems and subsystems for next-generation commercial technologies. Their work spans digital signal and image processing, sensor networks, IoT solutions, and microwave/RF component design for current and emerging communication standards including 5G and 6G networks.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants should normally have a minimum classification of an upper second class honours degree (2:1) or equivalent and preferably a Masters degree (or Masters degree pending). All applicants must meet the university's English Language requirements. IELTS - 6.5 with a minimum 6.0 in each component. TOEFL - 92 overall with a minimum of 20 in Listening, 24 in Writing, 19 in Reading and 20 in Speaking.
