Health psychology is crucial for enhancing public health and wellness. Our Health Psychology MSc program, located in central London, was among the pioneering health psychology master's degrees and has held British Psychological Society (BPS) accreditation since 1999. The curriculum features a creative assessment portfolio designed to build versatile skills directly applicable to professional environments. Students can also acquire practical experience by applying their knowledge in real-world health psychology contexts while exploring career pathways. The program is led by a dedicated team of research-focused faculty who maintain partnerships with institutions across London and elsewhere. Completing this course (Stage 1) is required to pursue advanced training (Stage 2) for HCPC registration as a health psychologist. Beyond core coursework, we partner with professionals to offer supplementary training in resilience, coaching, and clinical practice. The Health Psychology MSc delivers comprehensive knowledge about health, illness, and disease from both theoretical and practical perspectives, equipping students with essential research and application skills. Our structured curriculum explores health psychology's content, methodologies, and real-world uses, with a strong focus on evidence-based practice and Stage 2 training preparation. The core modules allow significant customization to focus on individual interests.
An upper second class honours degree (2:1) in a psychology degree that grants eligibility for the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) of the BPS. Candidates with a lower second class honours degree (2:2) or without GBC will be considered. We will take into account your academic profile and work experience within health psychology or a related field. In the personal statement, we encourage applicants to reflect on the ways that their experience to date would enable them to succeed at the Masters level.
