The Master of Arts in Urban and Regional Planning equips you with essential skills, knowledge, and capabilities for professional practice as a spatial planner across private, public, and community sectors. Drawing on the University of Westminster's 80+ years of postgraduate planning education, this program explores planning at various scales while emphasizing urban and regional contexts within the UK. You'll learn from highly qualified instructors with extensive professional, research, and teaching backgrounds while benefiting from an interdisciplinary academic setting with strong industry connections in one of the world's most dynamic cities. This RTPI-accredited program meets both 'spatial' and 'specialist' requirements for initial planning education, offering flexible full-time or part-time study options at our central London campus. The curriculum aims to develop critically-minded, adaptable graduates with the expertise to tackle modern planning challenges and excel in diverse professional environments. Alongside the MA, we offer Postgraduate Diploma and Certificate options to accommodate different academic needs and career stages. Professional Recognition: The MA program holds full accreditation from the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI). Graduates can become RTPI licentiates and, after gaining two years' professional experience, may apply for full membership through the Assessment of Professional Competence process. While the Diploma and Certificate alone don't satisfy RTPI initial education requirements, they can contribute toward accreditation eligibility. Career Prospects: Planning degrees offer exceptional employment opportunities due to their unique blend of practical and analytical skills. Our MA graduates consistently secure positions with local authorities, non-profits, private consultancies, and international organizations, enjoying strong career advancement potential in this high-demand field.
