The Social Media and Digital Communication MA program offers students the chance to gain comprehensive knowledge about modern digital communication and its transformative effects on politics, culture, and society. Digital platforms have revolutionized our concepts of interaction, democracy, journalism, personal relationships, data privacy, marketing, and leisure activities. These platforms have captivated billions worldwide, providing spaces for creative expression, emotional connection, and community building. However, they've also commodified user data through surveillance-based business models. This program analyzes social media both as commercial enterprises and as crucial spaces for examining contemporary cultural dynamics. It investigates concepts of online sharing versus privacy, evolving journalistic practices in the digital age, and emerging forms of civic engagement. The curriculum links social media to broader digital developments like Artificial Intelligence. Core modules address media technologies, platform-user relationships, and the blending of personal and public communication in digital networks. Through elective courses, students can specialize in fields such as data studies, international media, or political activism. The program enhances advanced research capabilities, analytical skills, and professional communication techniques. Career Prospects: Graduates of this MA program qualify for diverse professional opportunities across multiple sectors. The degree particularly benefits those pursuing careers in creative fields, nonprofit organizations (including NGOs and advocacy groups), as well as research, consulting, and management roles. It also serves as strong preparation for doctoral studies.
