In today's dynamic and fast-evolving business landscape, the need for HR experts capable of strategically nurturing employee potential – while addressing challenges like workforce reductions, flexible arrangements, and recent hurdles such as furloughs and distancing protocols – has become absolutely crucial for organizational achievement. Our professionally oriented MA program holds full accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) and is structured to deepen your grasp of evidence-based Human Resource Management (HRM) theories, practices, and policies as they apply to real-world scenarios. The program arms you with the expertise, capabilities, and analytical tools needed to strategically oversee organizational operations from an HR standpoint. Our teaching methodology centers on practical problem-solving, allowing you to apply acquired knowledge to real management challenges through assignments and projects grounded in actual workplace situations. We incorporate contemporary HR topics from current events, case studies, and real examples – sometimes drawing from our students' own professional experiences. You'll develop skills in gathering and interpreting relevant data, enhancing your ability to assess situations and recommend optimal solutions across diverse areas including flexible work policies, staff engagement, organizational transitions, and compensation strategies. The yearly HRM conference provides direct access to industry speakers who have previously addressed topics like immigration's effect on labor availability, post-Brexit EU regulations' influence on employee relations, and equity/diversity/inclusion initiatives. Additionally, hands-on workshops help cultivate vital HR practitioner skills in areas such as handling workplace disputes, addressing unconscious bias in hiring processes, and coaching/mentoring techniques. Through team exercises, you might practice scenarios like conducting disciplinary proceedings or leading recruitment interviews. Whether you're an aspiring HR professional or an experienced practitioner aiming for career growth, our practice-focused program supports your advancement. Designed with working professionals' needs in mind, the course offers both full-time and part-time study options, with part-time delivery through evening classes or a mix of evenings and half-day sessions. Alumni have progressed to roles including internal/external HR consultants, compensation specialists, change management experts, HR business partners, operations leaders, government HR positions, and workplace mediators.
