The Medical Sciences BSc Honours is a three-year undergraduate program that serves both as an independent degree and a pre-clinical pathway, enabling graduates to transition directly into the third year of the Doctor of Medicine and Surgery (MD) program at our international partner institution, the University of Malta.
With a century-long tradition of medical education recognized in the UK, the University of Malta delivers its MD program entirely in English to a multicultural student community representing more than 90 nations.
Progression to the University of Malta's MD program requires successful completion of the Medical Sciences BSc Honours with at least a lower second-class (2:2) classification. Additionally, candidates must complete the anatomy and Medical Maltese Summer School and obtain the Certificate in Medical Maltese Proficiency. For comprehensive information about Malta, its university, and the MD program, visit the Studying Medicine at the University of Malta webpage.
This BSc Honours program provides in-depth knowledge of human health and disease, focusing on disease diagnosis, pathology, and underlying mechanisms. While preparing students for various life science careers, it specifically qualifies them for the Malta MD program. The curriculum employs diverse teaching approaches including tutorials, lectures, seminars, laboratory sessions, group projects, and digital learning tools. Evaluation combines examinations with coursework assessments such as essays, practical assignments, group presentations, and research reports.
