Biomedical science focuses on in-depth analysis of the human body in both healthy and diseased states, particularly examining disease diagnosis, underlying mechanisms, and pathological processes.
During your first year, you'll explore essential foundational sciences such as biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, along with human anatomy and physiology.
The second year expands your knowledge of diverse disease pathways while introducing diagnostic laboratory techniques that support treatment decisions.
Between your second and third years, you can opt for an industry placement to gain professional experience or study abroad at one of Westminster's affiliated universities.
Your final year concentrates on advanced disease pathology across biological systems, covering diagnostic methods in hematology, immunology, pathology, biochemistry, and microbiology. You'll also complete a significant research project to cultivate authentic scientific investigation skills.
