Our Foundation year degree programs provide a pathway to prepare students for advanced education before transitioning to a complete honors degree at the University of Westminster.
Whether you seek to enhance your knowledge and abilities for university-level studies or wish to shift your academic focus, we welcome diverse students to join our Foundation year as a stepping stone toward a full honors degree.
The Architecture and Design Foundation year introduces students to creative fields that influence interior, building, and urban design. Through hands-on projects, you'll explore spatial, technical, and cultural concepts while building fundamental skills and creative approaches for continued education. The initial semester starts with investigating urban space design and habitation, followed by a materials and fabrication project in our state-of-the-art Marylebone campus workshop. Concurrent studio and fieldwork exercises will refine your drawing and creative abilities. The second semester features a project redesigning existing spaces, culminating in a self-directed creative endeavor. Foundation students may showcase their work in the School of Architecture and Cities annual exhibition. Throughout both semesters, academic modules will strengthen your writing and critical thinking skills alongside practical development.
