HetSys is a doctoral training center supported by the EPSRC, welcoming motivated students from various physical science backgrounds who excel at applying mathematical concepts and adaptable thinking to tackle intricate challenges.
Through skill enhancement, HetSys prepares you to push boundaries in computational modeling of diverse real-world systems, covering areas like nanoscale technology, innovative catalysts, advanced alloys, adaptive fluids, and laser-plasma dynamics.
The HetSys curriculum focuses on three crucial training objectives: Bridging disciplinary divides. Real-world heterogeneous systems demand multidisciplinary approaches, combining varied modeling techniques. Integrate uncertainty analysis. Instruction in uncertainty quantification empowers students to not only conduct simulations but also evaluate their accuracy. Strengthen Research Software Engineering (RSE) practices. Education in sustainable software development improves functionality and longevity of research tools.
