Biochemistry explores life at its most fundamental level – examining the molecules and cells that compose living beings. It stands as one of four degree programs offered by the School of Life Sciences. Ideal for students passionate about both biology and chemistry, this program delves into protein and nucleic acid structures, gene expression regulation, membrane functions, antibody and hormone mechanisms, and cellular interactions within multicellular organisms. Program outline After establishing a strong biochemical foundation, the curriculum expands into specialized areas like biophysical chemistry, which analyzes biological macromolecules at atomic scales, and explores genome dynamics and gene control. With an extensive selection of elective topics, you can tailor your studies to match your interests. Graduates will possess a robust grasp of biochemical principles and structural foundations underlying molecular, cellular, and developmental processes across diverse organisms. You'll benefit from personalized academic guidance through our tutorial system, complemented by hands-on laboratory experience. Our four-year MBio program includes an extended final-year research project conducted in-house.
