This Master's program examines religious, social, economic, and cultural transformations in the early modern era, addressing challenges like inflation, population growth, and increased social mobility. Our courses are led by specialist faculty, offering diverse perspectives and methodological approaches.
During the initial term, you'll complete two foundational modules. Theory, Skills and Methods establishes core historical techniques and analytical frameworks for studying societies from the early modern period to modern times. Themes in Early Modern History critically examines central topics while introducing Warwick's academic strengths.
In the following term, you'll choose two elective modules that investigate distinct subjects across different periods and regions. These options allow you to contextualize your interests in early modern religion, gender, empire, consumer culture, medicine, or science within broader comparative frameworks while incorporating interdisciplinary perspectives. While all your assessed work can focus on early modern topics, these modules help situate your research within wider historical contexts to enhance your academic development.
