Biochemistry explores life at its most fundamental level – examining the molecules and cells that compose living organisms. As one of four degree programs offered by the School of Life Sciences, this course is ideal for students passionate about both biology and chemistry. You'll investigate protein and nucleic acid structures, gene expression regulation, membrane functions, antibody and hormone mechanisms, and cellular interactions within complex organisms. Program structureAfter establishing a strong biochemical foundation, the curriculum expands into specialized areas like biophysical chemistry (studying biological macromolecules at atomic scales) and genomics/gene regulation. With diverse elective options, you can tailor your studies to match your interests. Graduates will possess comprehensive knowledge of biochemical principles underlying molecular, cellular, and developmental processes across various life forms. Our program features personalized tutorial support and extensive laboratory experience.
