The automotive sector is placing growing emphasis on sustainability. Vehicle producers and component makers are examining ways to integrate eco-friendly practices throughout vehicle design and production cycles.

At Sussex, we address numerous facets of sustainable automotive engineering. Through this program, you will:

acquire core engineering competencies spanning materials science, production techniques, mechanical principles, and electrical systems
develop skills in computer-aided design, coding, and computational modeling
investigate clean propulsion technologies, next-gen vehicle innovations, electric powertrains, and automotive dynamics.
Our cutting-edge research directly informs classroom instruction. You'll leverage insights from our Dynamics, Control, and Vehicle research team, whose projects encompass vehicle diagnostic systems, smart control units, and self-driving technologies.

Learning occurs in our state-of-the-art Future Technologies Labs, featuring advanced computing resources and robotic/automation equipment. Our specialized manufacturing workshop houses precision tools including CNC machinery and additive manufacturing systems. Through Formula Student initiatives, you'll collaborate on designing and constructing competitive electric race cars.
