Develop critical and creative thinking through Drama, Theatre, and Performance at Sussex, where theory meets practice in an engaging curriculum.
In your academic studies, you'll analyze how social and political influences shape modern theatrical works.

Through hands-on experience, you'll unlock your artistic abilities while honing skills in writing, directing, acting, and critique. Our campus provides all necessary resources, including the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts - a venue showcasing professional theatre and dance productions from both national and international troupes.

You'll enjoy excursions to Brighton theaters and beyond, alongside opportunities to learn from visiting artists who conduct workshops, deliver lectures, and stage productions.

Upon completing your degree, you'll possess essential competencies for advanced study or professional pursuits:

analytical evaluation
effective writing
autonomous reasoning
collaborative skills
creative solutions.
Our alumni network includes accomplished professionals such as independent theatre directors, published poets and playwrights, and arts administrators. Many have established their own theatre collectives or pursued careers as directors and actors, while others have entered complementary fields including publishing, library sciences, teaching, and therapeutic drama practices.
