Criminal behavior, its various forms, underlying factors, and societal impacts are issues that affect nations across the globe. There's an international demand for practical insights into criminal activity, offenders, and justice systems.
This program examines unlawful and deviant behavior through multiple academic lenses, integrating criminological theories with psychological approaches. You'll investigate:
broader social and systemic factors related to criminal acts
the psychological processes influencing individual behavior.
For your capstone project, you'll develop skills to frame research questions about crime and psychology, design methodologies, and execute original studies.
Our curriculum is informed by ongoing faculty research. You'll be taught by scholars engaged in cutting-edge studies on topics such as:
radicalization (including violent extremism), digital terrorism and anti-terror strategies
hate crime legislation, gender/disability issues and victim studies
female offenders, intersections of gender/race with criminality
death penalty practices, cultural approaches to criminology.
Upon completion, you'll possess analytical reasoning, research techniques (including qualitative interviews and content analysis) and statistical methods (such as survey design) applicable to diverse professional paths.
