The concept of childhood varies significantly between cultures and historical periods.

This program invites you to examine the essence of childhood and explore what young individuals require from those who support them professionally. Our multidisciplinary curriculum draws from diverse fields including sociology, history, digital technology, philosophy, anthropology, and psychology to facilitate this exploration.

Throughout your studies, you will:

examine how social pedagogy shapes comprehensive, child-focused approaches to youth engagement
analyze different perspectives on childhood
engage with current discussions, controversies, and global challenges affecting children
gain insights into child psychology and educational theory
have options to customize your learning through elective courses and specialized tracks.
The program includes two practical placements where you'll gain experience in various settings such as nurseries, play programs, youth organizations, children's charities, or educational institutions.

You'll learn from dedicated researchers whose work actively contributes to their fields. Our Center for Innovation and Research in Childhood and Youth, which operates across multiple disciplines, impacts policy and guides professionals working with children and youth worldwide.

This degree is designed for those committed to improving young lives. Upon completion, you'll possess the analytical and research capabilities necessary for diverse career opportunities in youth services, social work, healthcare, education, or policy development.
