Our Practitioner Doctorate in Sustainability PhD/EngD combines academic research with practical experience, giving you the chance to work with leading organizations on real-world sustainability challenges while pursuing doctoral studies. This unique program bridges academic theory and practical application in the sustainability sector.

Designed for exceptional researchers and graduates aspiring to become industry leaders in sustainability, this program offers specialized business modules and advanced technical training alongside hands-on industry experience. You'll tackle genuine sustainability challenges while primarily working with an external partner organization.

The initial 12 weeks are spent at the University, where you'll complete sustainability coursework and professional development workshops to prepare for your industry placement. Following this, you'll transition to your host company, where your research will directly contribute to organizational and potentially sector-wide sustainability solutions.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants are expected to hold a first or upper second-class (2:1) UK degree in a relevant discipline (or equivalent overseas qualification), or a lower-second (2:2) UK degree plus a good UK masters degree - distinction normally required (or equivalent overseas qualification). IELTS Academic: 6.5 or above (or equivalent) with 6.0 in each individual category. TOEFL (ibt) - 88 overall with 18 in Reading, 19 in Listening, 19 in Speaking and 23 in Writing.
