In this program, you'll explore food composition and its nutritional components, examining how the body processes them and their connection to wellness and illness. You'll develop comprehensive knowledge of nutrient absorption and utilization, along with a thorough understanding of nutrition's role in health maintenance and disease progression. During your initial year, you'll cover fundamental subjects such as biochemistry, cellular biology, food science, nutritional health, and physiology, establishing a strong base for advanced studies. Acquire practical experience through our recognized Professional Training Placements program, with opportunities at various organizations including government agencies, NHS facilities, and nutrition firms. Benefit from instruction by faculty honored with the Queen's Anniversary Prize 2017-18 for their outstanding contributions to food and nutrition research. Upon completion, you'll meet the academic standards required for registration with the Association for Nutrition to pursue a career as an associate nutritionist.
