With an emphasis on structural engineering, you'll tackle comprehensive design projects based on real-world industry scenarios. Through our partnerships with top firms and consultancies, you can secure paid positions in our renowned Professional Training program. This practical experience readies graduates for industry roles and supports chartership progression. Approximately 35% of our undergraduates participate in our exclusive Surrey/ICE (Institution of Civil Engineering) scholarship initiative, which connects students with industry partners early in their studies. Participants: Complete their year-long Professional Training placement with the sponsoring company, Gain paid summer employment opportunities, Obtain substantial scholarship funding. Many graduates receive permanent job offers from their placement firms.
Our fully accredited curriculum offers dynamic modules showcasing Surrey's excellence in specialized fields like water/environmental engineering and advanced geotechnical studies. Learning occurs through diverse methods including lectures, tutorials, practical exercises, guest speakers, and field visits. Both BEng and MEng students follow identical coursework for the initial three years before undertaking a significant third-year research project. MEng candidates then complete an additional master's year fulfilling all academic requirements for chartered engineer status. Subject to performance, students may have the option to transfer between BEng and MEng pathways during their studies.
