You can pursue either a PhD or MPhil in Law. A Law PhD involves three years of full-time study, whereas an MPhil takes one year of full-time study. The Strathclyde Law School also accepts part-time PhD and MPhil candidates. Part-time research programs offer an excellent way to explore topics relevant to your career while maintaining employment. These flexible options allow working professionals to earn a PhD or MPhil without leaving their jobs. The Strathclyde Law School serves as a policy hub, uniting representatives from government, the Faculty of Advocates, the Law Society, the Scottish Legal Aid Board, Citizens Advice Scotland, and academic institutions to examine matters concerning justice accessibility, legal service delivery, professional ethics, and judicial matters.
For postgraduate studies, we require a minimum overall IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent (the test must be taken within two years of programme start date).
