The Department of Architecture's research encompasses a broad spectrum, spanning from performance evaluation to design of buildings and urban spaces. Our faculty members contribute diverse specializations that PhD candidates both enhance and help broaden. We welcome applications from students aligned with our existing focus areas and faculty expertise, as well as proposals introducing novel research inquiries. About our research: Our department's investigative work and innovative approaches cover: - Humanities - Physical and social sciences focused on designing for energy resilience and healthy environments - Building performance assessment - Urban analytics and design - Heritage conservation and building retrofits Our research mirrors architecture and urbanism's inherently interdisciplinary character, tackling practical challenges to enhance quality of life. We're pioneering sustainable solutions aligned with governmental, industrial, and societal demands, while spearheading studies on human-city interactions in an era of rapid urbanization and climate change.
You'll need a first-class or upper second-class UK Honours degree, or overseas equivalent, in any discipline.
IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no individual band less than 5.5)
TOEFL (ibt): 80 overall, with the following minimum scores in each component: Listening: 17 Reading: 18 Speaking: 20 Writing: 18.
