Our research leverages cutting-edge scientific and mathematical advancements to create innovative solutions for industrial and societal challenges. These include pharmaceutical production, clean water distribution, and sustainable energy generation. Our work spans diverse fields, from manipulating nanostructured materials to engineering sophisticated reactors, from developing groundbreaking energy storage and gas separation technologies to combat climate change, to investigating protein aggregation in neurodegenerative disorders. We maintain robust collaborations with engineering and science departments both at Strathclyde and beyond, alongside numerous industry partnerships. Study options Pursue a PhD program over three to four years in any of our core research specializations: Sustainable technologies Electrochemical systems & catalytic processes Porous materials & adsorption science Particle technology engineering Additional research avenues include engineering education and knowledge transfer initiatives.
A first-class or upper second-class Honours degree in a relevant engineering/science discipline, or a suitable equivalent qualification.
IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no individual band less than 5.5)
TOEFL (ibt): 80 overall, with the following minimum scores in each component: Listening: 17 Reading: 18 Speaking: 20 Writing: 18.
