The Department of Biomedical Engineering serves as a global hub for advanced postgraduate studies and cutting-edge research. Our program integrates engineering principles with medical, life, and physical sciences through comprehensive postgraduate degrees. Our educational and research initiatives focus on applying engineering concepts and physical/biological science methodologies to medical and surgical advancements. We prioritize clinically relevant research spanning from fundamental studies to practical healthcare implementations. Our work involves strong partnerships with clinical departments, academic institutions, and industry partners across Glasgow, the UK, and internationally. Students contribute significantly to pioneering research projects while benefiting from modern facilities and valuable connections with industry professionals, academics, and clinical partners. Our curriculum features visits to healthcare facilities and guest lectures from industry leaders and international specialists. Students can engage with our network of clinical and industrial advisors to enhance their professional development. We offer research-based degrees including one-year options (MPhil, MRes) and three-year PhD programs, supported by funding from various sources including government bodies, charities, and international organizations. Students can specialize in one of our three primary research domains: Rehabilitation Engineering Cell, Tissue & Organ Engineering Medical Diagnostic Devices & Instrumentation
A first-class or upper second-class Honours degree in biomedical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, physical or life sciences.
IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no individual band less than 5.5)
TOEFL (ibt): 80 overall, with the following minimum scores in each component: Listening: 17 Reading: 18 Speaking: 20 Writing: 18.
