This program provides a foundation in analyzing global politics, examining the key issues, players, and systems that influence today's world along with the theories and methods used to understand them. What part do major nations, global institutions, and activist groups play in international affairs? How should we address worldwide emergencies and disputes? How is power distributed and exercised among nations? In what ways do global political and economic forces impact people's daily lives worldwide? And how can we analyze and assess these dynamics? Our MSc in International Relations helps address these questions by offering comprehensive training in examining world politics through both contemporary issues and analytical frameworks. The program stands out by integrating American and British scholarly traditions, blending empirical and critical perspectives, with specialized courses covering diverse subjects like international law, European governance, security studies, and gender politics. Program Structure The International Relations MSc provides thorough methodological training, leveraging our expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research approaches. You'll learn to assess and apply these methods to global political actors and systems. The curriculum significantly boosts career-ready skills in research management, data interpretation, and analytical reasoning. The program consists of required and elective courses. Core classes cover: foundational theories in the discipline dynamics of international cooperation and conflict functions of global institutions research methodology principles You'll also choose from rotating elective courses on specialized international relations topics and advanced research methods. Each semester includes two core classes and one elective, with approximately 20 contact hours per class plus additional lab sessions for methods courses. Both January and September intakes complete a summer dissertation under faculty supervision.
