This research-focused MRes in Geoenvironmental Engineering delivers advanced education in critical aspects of geoenvironmental engineering, including geoenergy and sustainable engineering solutions. Perfect for those seeking to expand their expertise and research capabilities while advancing knowledge in geoenvironmental fields. The program provides a customized learning journey, allowing you to align your studies with your specific research interests and professional goals. While primarily research and project-oriented, the curriculum includes structured coursework. Instruction comes from a multidisciplinary team of certified civil engineers, chemists, microbiologists, and geoscientists. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering maintains robust industry connections that enrich the student experience. The research component enables collaboration with distinguished academics conducting cutting-edge studies in geoenvironmental engineering, including geoenergy applications. The MRes program spans one year full-time or two years part-time. Full-time enrollment is open to both UK and international students, while on-campus part-time study is limited to UK/EU residents. Alternatively, the course offers a flexible 36-month Distance Learning option available worldwide. Curriculum Overview This interdisciplinary program covers essential geoenvironmental engineering subjects such as: environmental engineering pollution and contamination studies environmental impact evaluations risk analysis microbiology chemistry hydrogeology sustainable practices Students complete six modules - four mandatory and two elective - with the majority of time dedicated to an independent MRes dissertation project that hones research skills.
A minimum of first or upper second-class Honours degree from a UK institution (or overseas equivalent), and preferably a Masters-level qualification (or equivalent).
