Nestled in Glasgow's vibrant City Centre, we provide a distinctive blend of specialized knowledge spanning civil, environmental, chemical, mechanical, and electrical engineering, alongside geosciences, material science, physics, chemistry, and microbiology. Our dynamic postgraduate research community comprises more than 90 students from diverse backgrounds. We deliver training in an international, multicultural environment, and our strong partnerships with industry and government guarantee cutting-edge research that addresses real-world challenges. Our globally recognized research includes collaborative projects with international institutions. Postgraduate research programs are available as one-year options (MPhil, MRes) or three-year PhDs. These initiatives receive backing from research councils, the Scottish Government, and corporate sponsors. The Civil & Environmental Engineering department maintains robust industry connections, with approximately 25% of our PhD students benefiting from financial support through these partnerships.
We look for a first-class or upper second-class UK Honours degree, or overseas equivalent, in a relevant discipline, from a recognised educational institution.
