These concurrent modules build progressively on each other.Campus sessions introduce curriculum frameworks, facilitate peer collaboration, and help develop lesson plans and teaching materials. You'll practice micro-teaching and discover creative approaches to student engagement.Practical ExperienceThe course includes 18 weeks of supervised teaching in Scottish schools, with ongoing evaluation against Provisional Registration standards.Full participation in school days (including in-service days) is mandatory unless otherwise instructed by your placement school.Placements allow you to apply classroom knowledge, refine your teaching approach, acquire new strategies, and build meaningful student connections.Maintaining a detailed progress portfolio is required, documenting your journey toward meeting professional standards and establishing habits for lifelong career development.Career Pathways

Qualification Requirements

An ordinary degree, or international equivalent. Degree must include: 80 SCQF credits in the language you wish to teach (if you wish to teach your native language, All the languages taught in Scotland are valuable – there is no hierarchy of language. The entry requirements outlined take account of the context in which languages are taught. Where possible, applicants should offer more than one language. The University of Strathclyde requires a minimum overall score of IELTS 6.5 (no individual test score below 5.5) or equivalent. Tests are valid for two years. TOEFL ibt - 80 overall, with the following minimum scores in each component-(Listening- 17, Reading- 18, Speaking- 20, Writing- 18).
