Note: Italian must be paired with another language.Curriculum overviewThis program provides both theoretical foundations and practical teaching skills. The PGDE follows a modular structure with three year-long components:Education Studies; Professional ValuesInquiry-Based Professional LearningProfessional SkillsProfessional Skills - Curriculum and Teaching MethodsProfessional Skills - Classroom PracticeThe program alternates between campus-based learning and school placements, with integrated skill development.Campus sessions introduce curriculum frameworks, facilitate peer collaboration, and develop lesson planning skills. You'll practice micro-teaching and explore creative approaches to student engagement.Placement experienceEighteen weeks are spent in Scottish schools, with ongoing evaluation against Provisional Registration standards.Full-time attendance at placement schools is mandatory, including staff development days unless otherwise instructed.Placements allow you to apply learning, refine teaching methods, and build student relationships.Maintain a professional portfolio documenting progress toward registration standards and ongoing development.Career pathways

An ordinary degree, or international equivalent. Degree must include: 80 SCQF credits in the language you wish to teach (if you wish to teach your native language, All the languages taught in Scotland are valuable – there is no hierarchy of language. The entry requirements outlined take account of the context in which languages are taught. Where possible, applicants should offer more than one language. The University of Strathclyde requires a minimum overall score of IELTS 6.5 (no individual test score below 5.5) or equivalent. Tests are valid for two years. TOEFL ibt - 80 overall, with the following minimum scores in each component-(Listening- 17, Reading- 18, Speaking- 20, Writing- 18).
