Our Faculty of Natural Sciences is globally recognized for pioneering research that examines the connections between human activity, technological advancement, and ecological systems. We provide PhD programs guided by leading experts, with research students playing a vital role in our academic successes. Environmental Science doctoral candidates will become part of a dynamic research community focused on uncovering the core mechanisms behind biodiversity development and preservation across all scales, from molecular to ecosystem-wide. Our research investigates environmental transformations across timescales ranging from yearly to geological to forecast and address the consequences of human-induced changes and natural disasters. We regularly secure significant funding from prestigious organizations including the Natural Environment Research Council, Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, Leverhulme Trust, various charitable foundations, and corporate partners.
