The University of Stirling conducts interdisciplinary dementia research that directly informs policy and practice, with a strong focus on individuals living with dementia and their support networks. Our investigations range from clinical studies examining cognitive impairment outcomes in hospital environments to palliative care approaches, care decision-making processes, the involvement of community healthcare providers (especially pharmacists), and the significance of dementia-inclusive communities. This broad research scope is supported by our diverse team of professionals including medical practitioners, nursing staff, pharmaceutical experts, psychologists, economists, social workers, sociologists, music therapists, caregivers, and individuals with lived dementia experience. Our Research Group collaborates with academic researchers, healthcare providers, and social care professionals across multiple disciplines at Stirling, as well as with global partners throughout Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Oceania. Additionally, the university hosts the internationally recognized Dementia Services Development Centre. We encourage potential PhD candidates passionate about contributing to this vital work to consider joining our research community.
