Health psychology examines how psychological, behavioral, and social factors influence physical health and medical conditions. This field focuses on identifying strategies to enhance wellbeing and improve healthcare delivery. Health psychologists work to foster healthy habits and optimize medical systems - from assisting individuals with weight management or smoking cessation to guiding medical professionals in patient communication.
Our program equips you to apply psychological principles to enhance wellness and comprehend physical ailments. You'll develop competencies to address the mental and emotional dimensions of health challenges, including supporting patients with chronic conditions. The MSc in Health Psychology emphasizes practical application through hands-on learning experiences. The curriculum features insights from practicing health psychologists and medical professionals. Students complete a short observational placement in healthcare environments, which may involve charities, private organizations, or NHS facilities (either virtually or onsite). While you'll primarily organize this placement independently, our faculty provides guidance throughout the process.
