This program offers specialized instruction in cutting-edge criminological research techniques and methodologies. Ranked first in Scotland and among the UK's top five for Criminology (Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023), it teaches the fundamentals of gathering, evaluating, and presenting both qualitative and quantitative data while considering ethical standards, dependability, and accuracy. You'll analyze the theoretical frameworks supporting criminology and socio-legal studies, investigate challenges in comparative research, and gain insight into how criminological findings influence policy decisions. Instruction is provided by faculty from the Scottish Centre for Crime and Criminal Justice Research - a collaborative academic institution with global reach, maintaining connections with scholars, policymakers, and professionals worldwide.
