This program offers comprehensive training across all biological disciplines, covering everything from microscopic bacteria to massive blue whales, and from molecular enzymes to entire ecosystems. During the initial two years, you'll gain thorough knowledge of fundamental life processes before focusing on your preferred specialization in the later stages. The curriculum emphasizes hands-on experience, integrating you into active research projects where you can participate in groundbreaking biological findings. Your education will combine essential lab techniques with extensive fieldwork, developing practical skills from the outset. Early in the program, you'll master core life science methodologies before applying them to your own research inquiries. Field training occurs both on our beautiful University of Stirling grounds and during immersive residential courses throughout Scotland.
