This hands-on, workplace-focused program is tailored mainly for educators working with learners aged 16+. It's structured around professional teaching standards for the post-compulsory education and training (PCET) field. The course helps you grow professionally through academic work, practical application, and thoughtful evaluation of your teaching experiences. You'll undertake academic modules at Levels 4, 6, and 7 while dedicating two days weekly to practical training at a nearby FE or sixth form college, applying classroom theories in real-world settings. Self-discipline and organization are essential, as you'll participate in online learning, workplace assignments, and tutorial sessions while collaborating with fellow students and improving through teaching observations.
Emphasizing workplace creativity and innovation backed by research and self-reflection, the program advances your professional growth while providing the tools to deliver excellent instruction to your students.
Graduates will receive: PGCE in Post-Compulsory Education and Training
The curriculum includes one 40-credit Level 4 module, one 20-credit Level 6 module, and two Level 7 modules (20 and 40 credits), each taught through diverse learning methods.
Completing these modules earns you a 120-credit Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PCET).
You may apply 60 of these credits toward Staffordshire University's full MA Education program.
Typically completed in one academic year, all modules follow the university's assessment standards for Levels 4, 6, and 7, with all learning objectives required for completion.
