Our Criminology programs go beyond theory, providing insights into the root causes of crime, societal responses, and potential solutions. You can pursue a broad Criminology education or focus on one of our specialized tracks.
At Staffordshire University, you'll examine the intricate factors behind criminal behavior and society's approach to critical issues like domestic abuse, weapon offenses, substance-related crimes, as well as global challenges including terrorism and international organized crime. You'll also analyze the social framework surrounding crime and punishment, gradually reevaluating your understanding of concepts like 'violence', 'harm' and 'justice'.
You'll analyze how criminological theories connect with real-world justice policies and procedures. This includes examining crime causation and judicial responses, while also studying penal systems, white-collar crime, and media influence on justice.
The MSci program merges undergraduate and postgraduate studies into one cohesive curriculum. The first three years follow a standard structure, with specialized modules and optional placements in the fourth year.
