The Institute of Scottish Historical Research invites applications from graduates wishing to pursue doctoral studies under faculty supervision. Staff research specialties are detailed in their individual profiles. Qualified applicants may be nominated for studentships in St Andrews' School of History. Typically, ISHR only nominates candidates with first-class honors (or equivalent) or a distinction in a relevant master's program. Currently, the ISHR supervises more than twelve doctoral candidates researching diverse subjects spanning from early medieval to modern history, including several collaborative projects. The Institute maintains a strong track record of successfully guiding PhD candidates to degree completion.

Faculties of Arts and Divinity is normally on the basis of a good Masters degree which must be related to your area of research.
