Most research students in the School of Computer Science are PhD candidates undertaking a 3 to 3.5-year doctoral program. This PhD program focuses entirely on research without coursework, culminating in a dissertation defense during a VIVA VOCE exam. Qualification Requirements

Admission to PhD or MSc (Res) degrees requires at least a good BSc or equivalent degree in an area appropriate for your proposed topic of study. This is usually Computer Science or Informatics, but it is not restricted to it and appropriateness of the previous qualifications is decided on a case-by-case basis. For a PhD, an MSc is not required, although many applicants do hold a MSc or equivalent postgraduate degree.

TOEFL iBT - Minimum overall score 79 with minimum component scores (Listening-12, Reading-13, Writin-21, Speaking- 18)
