The Master of Science in Research Methods in Psychology prepares students for advanced research degrees in psychology, providing specialized training for careers as research psychologists. This full-time postgraduate program, offered by the School of Psychology and Neuroscience, combines interdisciplinary social science education with cutting-edge psychological research methodologies.
The curriculum delivers comprehensive interdisciplinary social science training alongside specialized psychological research instruction.
Participants will undertake an independent psychology research project, with opportunities to utilize the school's specialized facilities including neurophysiology, psychopharmacology, psychophysics, animal cognition, and various psychology research laboratories.

Qualification Requirements

The application process involves providing a number supporting documents, documents required by the School of Psychology and Neuroscience are as follows (some funding opportunities may require additional documents):

personal statement (sometimes called a statement of purpose or letter of application)
up-to-date CV or resume
research proposal, including working title, of approximately 500 words, agreed with the potential supervisor
academic transcripts for undergraduate degree and any postgraduate degree completed or in progress (interim transcripts are permitted at this stage where final results are not yet known)
two academic references
sample of written academic work in English of no more than 3000 words
applicants whose first language is not English must provide evidence of English proficiency, the School of Psychology and Neuroscience requires an IELTs score of at least 7.0 overall with at least 7.0 in Writing.
