The 1-year MSc (by research) program, available in Psychology or Neuroscience, focuses entirely on an independent research endeavor spanning 12 months (or equivalent part-time duration). Students work under the guidance of one or more faculty members from the School, culminating in a thesis not exceeding 30,000 words. Both the PhD and MSc (by research) aim to deliver personalized training, which may include supervisor tutorials, specialized courses within the School of Psychology and Neuroscience or related departments, University resources like the Centre for Academic, Professional and Organisational Development, or external providers. Students are also encouraged to attend conferences, seminars, and workshops, both on-campus and externally.
These scholars investigate intergroup dynamics, moral psychology, personality traits, and inhibitory mechanisms in social cognition and memory. Their work employs diverse methods, particularly human experimental approaches, and spans locations from the UK to international sites like India. The findings contribute to insights about social behavior and clinical conditions, including depression.
