The MPhys in Astrophysics is a five-year Integrated Masters program (four years for direct second-year entry) offered by the School of Physics and Astronomy. Throughout your studies, you'll investigate the mysteries of the cosmos, ranging from exoplanets to the origins of the universe. This program primarily focuses on physics with an astrophysics specialization, integrating mathematical and physical principles from other course modules. During your initial two years, you'll also take mathematics courses from the School of Mathematics and Statistics, as mathematics forms the foundation of physics. Depending on your mathematics module selections, you may have the option to study complementary subjects like chemistry, computer science, philosophy, or various other disciplines across the University. St Andrews' flexible degree structure allows you to adjust your specialization during your studies by carefully selecting first and second-year modules.
